Department of Kinesiology

The Department of Kinesiology prepares students for professional careers in athletic training, exercise science, physical education, sports management, sports coaching, and strength/conditioning. The faculty is committed to teaching excellence, service, and scholarship that promotes an academically challenging and learner-centered environment.

Kinesiology students work closely with the Department's award-winning faculty and with Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi's 11 NCAA Division I athletic teams.

TAMUCC's Educational Program in Strength and Conditioning is recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

Degrees available
The Department of Kinesiology offers three degree options:

  • Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology
    Specializations offered:
    • Early Childhood (EC)-12 Teacher Certification
    • Exercise Science
    • Pre-Physical Therapy/Pre-Occupational Therapy
    • Sports Management

In August 2008, the Department of Kinesiology congratulated the first graduate of its Master's Program: Armando Avila (above center). "Mando" plans to go on to doctoral studies.

 

The Kinesiology Department introduced its Master's Program in 2006.
