Important announcement for Principal preparation: The TExES 068 state exam will be phased out over the next year. Eligible first-time test takers must take the test before December 31, 2018, and re-testers have until August 31, 2019 to pass the test. The new TExES 268 (Principal as Instructional Leader) and the Performance Assessment for School Leaders (PASL) assessments will be phased in during 2019.

Meeting indicated requirements will allow eligibility for certification for the 068 Principal Exam. Contact Certification Office for certification application process, (provide name and A#) or visit Applications must be submitted no later than September 15, 2019 to ensure the process for recommendation is completed by the October 30, 2019 deadline.

Our last TExES 068 review session was held in Sept/Oct 2018, and we are no longer offering 068 review sessions. Thus, per the posted EDAD handbook policy, no additional first-time test takers will be approved to take the 068 exam unless they have met the requirements stated in the EDAD handbook.

Students who completed a Masters degree in Educational Administration who have never taken or did not pass the 068 principal exam and seeks to pass the 268 exam will be required to take these courses at their own expense prior to being approved to take the new 268 Principal Exam: EDAD 5304, EDAD 5376, EDAD 5377, EDAD 5378, EDAD 5399. Due to considerable changes in content between the 068 and 268 exams, the retaking of these courses is needed to ensure student success on the new 268 Principal Exam. Please be aware that in addition to the requirement for passing the 268 exam, certification as a principal in Texas now also requires successful submission and completion of the PASL.
