Dr. Michele R. Staples earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston in Interdisciplinary Skills with a minor in Music. She then pursued her Master of Arts Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Reading while living and teaching in her hometown of San Antonio. Dr. Staples earned her Doctorate in Education in 2005 from Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
Dr. Staples brings twenty-four years of experience in Education with her to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. She has taught all grade levels, pre-K through 12th grade, and has 10 years of University experience, including online teaching and curriculum writing.
Dr. Staples’ research interests include English Language Learners, Literacy Acquisition and Mentoring. She enjoys presenting and has presented at local, state, National and International conferences and looks forward to collaborating with colleagues on research in the future.
Dr. Staples has been married to her high school sweetheart for 24 years and is a proud Aggie mom. When not teaching, Dr. Staples enjoys traveling, reading and relaxing on her deck in Rockport, Texas.
Dr. Staples has a strong commitment to excellence in all that she does and will model this commitment as she mentors and teaches classes in the College of Education and Human Development here at TAMU-CC.
