About Dr. Paciotti
Karen Desiree Lewis Paciotti received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from what was then known as Corpus Christi State University in 1977 and a Master of Education degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, in 2000. She earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2004.
Paciotti began her teaching career in Corpus Christi, Texas, as a parochial school music teacher at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, and she continued her career in Beaumont, Texas, where she taught first, second, and fifth grades at St. Anne Catholic School. She then taught seventh grade English for two years at Vincent Middle School in the Beaumont Independent School District. For three years she was a special education inclusion teacher and chair of the Special Education Department, also at the Vincent Middle School. Prior to teaching at TAMUCC, she held adjunct faculty positions at Lamar University in Beaumont and at the University of Houston.
Paciotti is interested in preparing pre-service teachers and pursuing research in her areas of interest, which include teacher caring behaviors, the impact of state accountability measures upon teacher caring and instructional behaviors, and curriculum and instruction.
