Daniel Huffman began as an athletic trainer in the TAMUCC Athletics Department in 2007, working with the men's and women's cross country and track teams. During the 2008-09 academic year he also began fulfilling the role of clinical coordinator in TAMUCC's CAATE-accredited undergraduate Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP). His duties are teaching 6 credit hours per semester and providing clinical oversight for students in the ATEP, and he is also the athletic trainer for the Islanders' women's basketball team.
Prior to arriving at TAMUCC, Huffman completed his master's degree at the University of Virginia, completing the NATA-accredited Post-Professional Graduate Athletic Training Program in August 2007. While at UVA, he was a Graduate Assistant athletic trainer for the men's and women's cross country, track, and golf teams. His thesis was entitled, "A Menthol Counterirritant Does Not Facilitate the Quadriceps Motoneuron Pool in Healthy Subjects." He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in May, 2006 with a BS in Exercise Science, Emphasis: Athletic Training.
