Denise Hill, Ed.D. has been teaching in the College of Education at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi since Fall 2002. She is in the Teacher Education Department and is the Site Professor for the Center for Professional Development and Teaching at Schanen Elementary in the Corpus Christi ISD. She previously taught in the Texas Public Schools for nineteen years. Five of those years were spent in Nacogdoches, Texas teaching sixth grade mathematics and science for the gifted and talented students. During those five years, Dr. Hill served on a Texas Education Agency grant team developing the gifted and talented integrated mathematics and science curriculum and teaching practices for the district. Dr. Hill then moved to the Corpus Christi Independent School District, where she introduced the integrated mathematics and science program to the middle school in which she was teaching. She conducted a study during this time entitled, "The Effects of Integrated Mat! hematics/ Science Curriculum and Instruction Practices on Student Achievement and Students' Attitudes towards Mathematics in the Sixth Grade." Hill was named the Teacher of the Year for the Corpus Christi Independent School District during the 2000-2001 school year.

Even more recently, she was awarded the TAMUCC Faculty Teaching Excellence Award for the 2008–2009 academic year. In January 2009, Dr. Hill received grant monies in the amount of $349,984.00 from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to create the TAMUCC Mathematics and Science Teacher Academy (MASTA).
