Dr. Yvonne Castillo is presently employed as Director of the Counseling and Training Clinic at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, a National Certified Counselor, and a Certified School Counselor with twenty-three years of experience in public schools and higher education systems. Dr. Castillo is also a Certified Anger Resolution Therapist, is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Today, her work involves facilitating healthy relationship classes and positive parenting programs while also presenting on a diversity of topics to schools and community agencies. Dr. Castillo extends her work as a clinical mental health private practitioner providing individual, couples, and family counseling. She stays abreast of current issues by being active in several professional organizations at the national, state, and local levels and by volunteering her time as a CACREP site team member. Her commitment to the department includes teaching in the clinical, school and marriage, couples, and family programs. Dr. Castillo is highly involved in serving her community through her participation as a board member of the Coastal Bend Coalition Against Modern Day Slavery, a coalition that advocates for the life and rights of persons being labor or sex trafficked.
